Pedestrian safety barriers have been installed outside a primary school in Derry – Londonderry.

Parents and teachers at Gaelscoil na Daróige in Ballymagroarty had expressed concerns over the safety of children leaving the school.

Councillor Eric McGinley said:

“In response to concerns raised by representatives of the Gaelscoil na Daróige I held a site meeting with Transport NI at which myself and the school were given a commitment that pedestrian safety barriers would be installed.

"In conjunction with the placement of new flashing signs the installation of these barriers will provide increased protection to the children and I would take this opportunity to thank Transport NI for responding positively to this safety issue.”
