A new scheme is being set up to help local homes and businesses based in broadband blackspots.

They are being invited to register their details as part of a drive to improve local broadband services.

The Department of the Economy is trying to establish which postcodes are most affected by limited access.

Council Business Manager Louise Breslin, said: “In my role working with businesses every day I’m acutely aware that connectivity is a key issue for companies in terms of the level of service expected by the public.

“Superfast broadband is essential in the day to day provision of services and products and I would urge people to take this opportunity to help progress plans to address any deficits in service provision by registering now.”

Details of the addresses and post codes of any areas experiencing minimal or no broadband coverage in the Derry City and Strabane District Council Area can be registered at https://www.economy-ni.gov.uk/consultations/northern-ireland-superfast-rollout-programme-public-clarification-intervention-area

Alternatively please send these details through to Noeleen Dawson before Wednesday 30th November 2016 noeleen.dawson@derrystrabane.com  028 71 253253 Ext 8276

DCSDC will then collate the relevant data and inform the Department for the Economy (DfE) - Telecoms Branch of the areas that are experiencing minimal or no broadband coverage.
