Officials have urged schools in the North West to ban the British Armed Forces from trying to recruit their pupils.
The Derry City and Strabane District Council motion passed last night after the Army set up stalls at careers fairs in Belfast.
It was backed by Sinn Fein and the Independent councillors. Unionist councillors voted against the motion and the SDLP abstained from the vote.
The motion was brought by Independent, Gary Donnelly who says the Army turns young people into 'robotic mindless killers'.

The DUP's Drew Thompson has told Q Radio, schools in unionist communities probably won't bring in the policy.
