Local writer's play 'The Dumped Divorcee Support Group Rides Again' in Alley Theatre for one night only

The latest installment in Derry-Londonderry writer, Irene Melaugh's 'Dumped Divorcee Support Group' series will be on stage in Strabane's Alley Theatre for one night only tonight. 

‘The Dumped Divorcee Support Group Rides Again’ is the second in the planned trilogy and features an even larger cast than the original, including some ‘new and outrageous characters’.

A spokesperson for the Council explained the play:

"The first play saw three childhood friends start another chapter in their lives with new partners but Rosie and Eileen are now homeless and living with Maura in her two bedroom house and the situation is explosive.

"Eileen has been de-robed and thrown out of the convent, Rosie has left her man because he was wearing out all her clothes and Eugene, well, that’s another story!"

Q Radio has been speaking to Irene Melaugh, the writer of the play who says the plays are a reflection on today's society and relatable for people in the audience. 

She's also been divorced herself so taken real life circumstances into account, and portrayed them in a light, humorous way: 

Irene also explained how well the first installment of her planned trilogy went and she's hoping this time round is the same. 

Local people are encouraged to come along for "a bit of comedy and a good night out" among friends. 

There is swearing and small amounts of nudity, so the play's not suitable for children.
