LISTEN: 54-year-old woman dies following single vehicle collision in Co Fermanagh

A woman has died after being hit by a pick-up truck in Co Fermanagh on New Year's Eve . 

She has been named as 54-year-old Elaine Patricia McGarrity who was from the Irvinestown area. 

A 22-year-old man has been arrested following the collision which happened on Brownshill Link Road in the town at around 9.00am this morning, Tuesday, January 31.

He's being held by police on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

Councillor John Coyle says his thoughts are with the family of the deceased.  

 

 

A PSNI spokesperson said "Police can confirm that 54 year old Elaine Patricia McGarrity, from the Irvinestown area, has died following a collision involving a Toyota Hilux pick-up truck and a pedestrian on Brownshill Link Road, Irvinestown at approximately 9.00am this morning, Tuesday, 31 January.

"The 22 year old male driver has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and is currently in police custody.

"Inspector Greg Beckett has appealed to anyone who was travelling on the Brownshill Link Road this morning and witnessed the collision or anyone who has dash-cam footage that could assist with police enquiries to contact officers at Omagh on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 321 31/12/19."
