Arlene Foster has faced calls to step aside to facilitate an investigation into the botched green energy scheme

The First Minister says she won't step down over the Renewable Heat Incentive

Arlene Foster says she won't be stepping down as First Minister - and is ready to face the electorate if necessary.

Sinn Fein has urged Mrs Foster to stand aside to facilitate an investigation into the Renewable Heat Incentive.

It could cost taxpayers at-least 400-million-pounds.

Speaking to Sky News, the Democratic Unionist leader accused those who want her to stand aside of 'misogyny.'

She said she won't bow to Republican pressure.

The SDLP's Claire Hanna told us her reference to misogyny is not good for women in politics.

She went on to say it's a distraction.

Alliance Leader Naomi Long said she was "surprised" by the reference to misogyny.

TUV Leader Jim Allister says it's not a gender issue.

Meanwhile, Sinn Fein's Michelle O'Neill dismissed the misogyny claims as "nonsense."

The Ulster Unionist's Steve Aiken has urged the public not to fall for what he has described as "DUP distraction tactics," and not to lose focus on "the main issues."

Deputy Leader of the Northern Ireland Green Party Clare Bailey says "The First Minister's misogyny claim is a terrible attempt to detract from her central role in the RHI fiasco."

Belfast City Council is calling for an independent public inquiry into the RHI.

The motion was brought forward by former DUP Councillor Ruth Patterson last night.

A letter will now be sent to the Secretary of State.

One will also be sent to the office of First and deputy First Ministers urging Arlene Foster to step aside.

Alderman Patterson says the almost-half a billion pound bill is spending the inheritance for years to come.
