The grandfather of a missing 23 year old has appealed to people to continue to join the search for his grandson.

Jack Glenn entered the River Foyle two weeks ago today sparking a major operation.

Thousands of people have since donated their time to the search efforts, with groups scouring the river banks hourly.

Jack Glenn Senior said he will be 'eternally grateful' to the rescue teams who continue to search for his grandson.

"As head of the Glenn family I want to again thank every individual, community groups, local businesses, Foyle, Mourne, Strabane community rescue, Drogeda divers, the PSNI and any organisation I may have not mentioned for their unyielding efforts in trying to get Jack home to us.

"I sit at home and listen to what people are doing for us and cannot take in the generosity of all you kind people, for which I will be eternally grateful.

"There has been appeals for donations to help fuel all the privately owned vessels. This has been most successful and we have now reached the stage of having enough funds for fuel to sustain us and to that end I would like to inform everyone that this appeal has stopped with immediate effect.

"I know there was a fundraising concert planned for next week, I have asked the organisers to postpone this event until we get the wee man laid to rest, and the plans for anything in Jack's memory will be announced later."

Jack Snr says funds totalling £7,752 raised through an online campaign for the Glenn family will be donated to the various rescue charities.

"There is a Just Giving page and all funds received from this will be used to Boost Rescue Service funds to ensure that they are there when an other family are plunged into this black hole we find ourselves in," he continued.

"My appeal is now not for money but for your presence at the search sites, WE NEED feet and eyes on the ground and a few hours of your time would be very much appreciated."
