Foyle Search and Rescue called to 32 incidents in February including body recovery

Foyle Search and Rescue's (FSR)  Duty Team and Pager Team dealt with a total of 32 incidents in the North West last month. 

The statistics for February were released on the charity's facebook page. 

A spokesperson for the group said: 

"Four people were brought back from the Railings or Rivers edge.

"Twenty Five people who were in distress were dealt with & immediately taken to a place of Safety.

"Two people were rescued from the River and our volunteers had the sad task of carrying out a body recovery."


The same spokesperson confirmed that Foyle Search and Resuce volunteers carry out duties on Thursday, Friday & Saturday Nights, and they are supported by an Emergency Response Team who remain on call 365 days of the year. 

"FSR teams maintain the Charities main aim of the Preservation of life via prevention, intervention & post vention. 

"Conducting Patrols & providing Awareness via presentations to varied Groups in and outside of our local community as we have done for 25 years.

"FSR would like to thank the public and our Community for the support shown to us & for your kind remarks passed to our volunteers while carrying out their varied roles.

"Lastly Thank You to all of our dedicated volunteers who carry out there fundraising & duties with professionalism, dignity & dedication week in week out."
