Former QRadio breakfast show host Stephen Clements has died at the age of 47.

The father of two began his broadcast career late in life but took off as a mainline presenter at Belfast Citybeat, before it became part of the QRadio network.

He bolstered his position as a fast thinking, whitty presenter alongside longtime co-host Cate Conway.

In June of 2019 Mr.Clements took up a new position in BBC Radio Ulster, replacing the mid morning show previously hosted by Sean Coyle.

The presenter, from Carrickfergus, is survived by his wife, Natasha, and their two children, Poppy and Robbie.

A spokesperson for Q Radio said that all staff at the station had been left shocked and saddened by the sudden death of their former colleague, and that their thoughts were with the Clements family at this difficult time.

"Today feels very surreal for all of us at Q Radio, Stephen was not only a much loved colleague and broadcaster but a friend to so many of us.

"We’ve been overwhelmed by the volume of people getting in touch to share their experience of Stephen - his humour, generosity, compassion and ability to put people at ease . He will be missed by all of us more than words can say."

BBC Northern Ireland director Peter Johnston said: "We are sorry to bring you the sad news of the passing of our colleague Stephen Clements.

"Our thoughts are with Stephen's family, friends and colleagues, at this difficult time."
