The successes of five outstanding students from secondary schools in Derry-Londonderry have been recognised at CCEA’s annual GCE Celebrating Excellence Awards Ceremony.
In total, 55 students from 37 schools across Northern Ireland were awarded for achieving top marks in the CCEA A-Level exams in the summer.
They were joined by principals, teachers, family and friends at the Parliament Buildings in Belfast at the ceremony on Monday (18th December).
The local pupils who achieved top A-Level results were:
Lisneal College
Emma-Jayne Smethurst - Applied Business DA
St.Columb's College
Rory Durnin - Art and Design
Thornhill College
Aoibhe McCarron - Art and Design
Maeve O'Boyle - Art and Design
Blessy Biji - Geography
Speaking at the event, Justin Edwards, Cheif Executive at CCEA, congratulated the students on their success at A Level:
“Tonight is very much about celebrating the achievement of the top A level candidates.
"I congratulate each of them for their hard work and dedication to their chosen subjects.
"I wish them well as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. I would also like to recognise and thank those that have supported them in their achievements, particularly their teachers, family and friends."
