Detectives think a small electronic device was used in an attack on two young boys in West Belfast.

The 12 and 13-year-old's were approached by a group of other boys when they felt something on their necks around 4.30 yesterday afternoon.

One of them fell to the ground on the Glen Road in Andersonstown and was treated in hospital for non life threatening injuries.

Tonight, the PSNI have said they're keeping an open mind in their investigation into what happened - but they believe a small electronic device was used on the boys.

Detective Inspector Paul Rowland said, "As the three boys made their way to a bus stop near a public house on the Glen Road in west Belfast on Wednesday afternoon, they were approached by a group of unknown young males. Each of the boys felt something on their neck and one of them fell to the ground. Two of the boys subsequently attended hospital for treatment to minor injuries.

"While we believe some kind of small electronic device was used, we are keeping an open mind, but are appealing to anyone who has any information about this incident, or who may have witnessed it to contact detectives on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 811 06/09/17.

"Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
