Detectives are continuing to investigate after a shot was fired in Strabane.

It happened at around 9pm on Sunday night in the Mourne Park area.

Police say an unknown man approached one of the houses carrying a white plastic bag with a suspected firearm inside.

He's believed to have knocked the door and when it was opened by a male occupant, a shot was fired from the bag.

Nobody was injured during the incident but damage was caused to the front door of the property.

It's understood the man left the scene on foot and headed towards the St.Mary's Drive.

The PSNI has described the suspect as being 5'10" in height, slim build and aged in his mid 20's to 30's.

He's believed to have been wearing a parka style jacket with a fur head.

Enquiries are continuing and police are appealing to anyone with information to contact detectives on 101 quoting reference number 1293 23/9/18.

Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous.
