Derry/Londonderry's 'Annual City Centre Floral Competition' set to return this summer

Last call for entries for this years ‘City Centre Floral Competition’! Ian Peilow, Altnagelvin Garden and Pet, sponsor of the annual City Centre Floral Competition with Niall Doran, City Centre Warden, CCI.

City Centre Initiative in partnership with Altnagelvin Garden and Pet Centre is ‘delighted to see the return of the ‘Annual City Centre FloralCompetition’’, describing the competition as a ‘colourful and wonderful way to celebrate the summer season’.

Organisers of the ‘City Centre Floral Competition’ are now inviting all city centre businesses and residents to make their own creative mark on their respective patch of the city centre. 

Niall Doran, the City Centre  Warden, who monitors the city centre areas on a daily basis said: “Not only is this event a mechanism for team work within the city, it brightens up the city, provides an amazing welcome for visitors and makes the city a nicer place to be for all who live and work here. 

 “We at City Centre Initiative would like to thank those who have applied to take part this year and also extend an invite for additional entries in the following categories: Public Service/ Charity/ Church, Hospitality/ Tourism/ Retail and Residential.

 “Each category will have a Gold, Silver and Bronze prize, donated by Altnagelvin Flower and Pet Centre.

"The Gold prize will be £100.00 in vouchers, Silver prize - £50.00 vouchers and the Bronze prize - £30.00 vouchers.

"The closing date for entries is Friday 22nd June and judging will take place on Friday 29th June 2018. To enter, contact City Centre Initiative on 028 (71) 360169 or email office@cciderry.com.”

Ian Peilow of Altnagelvin Garden and Pet Centre said he was delighted to sponsor the competition again this year, he added:

“The City Centre FloralCompetition is an invaluable way of bringing the people of the city together.

"The hard work and dedication of the entrants makes such a difference to the streetscape of the city, and we are looking forward to seeing the city centre blooming with colour in the months ahead.

"I would like to wish all entrants the very best of luck and look forward to welcoming them at the Altnagelvin Garden & Pet Centre in the near future.”
