The Post Office has launched a consultation proposing the return of services to the Rosemount area of Derry/Londonderry, which is due to take place over the next six weeks.

These services were removed in November last year when the Park Avenue branch closed.

Sinn Féin Councillor Mickey Cooper has received confirmation from the Post Office that a successful candidate has been found to operate in the Rosemount area and is urging residents to take part in the consultation:

“I am very pleased to have received confirmation from the Post Office that a successful candidate has been found to deliver a new service in Rosemount.

"Before the successful candidate is ratified the Post Office must undertake a formal consultation process with the local community.

"I would urge as many residents  as possible to be part of that consultation to ensure that the process to get the service up and running in Rosemount is completed as soon as possible.

"At all times I felt it was vitally important to maintain a Post Office counter service in this area and I would like to thank the Post Office for the work they have done to ensure this has been the case."
