UPDATE: Police granted extra time to question Marine over terror offences

Police in England have been granted more time to question a serving Royal Marine Northern Ireland related terrorism..

Ciaran Maxwell, who's origionally from Larne, was arrested last Wednesday on Suspicion of preparing for acts of Terror. 

A warrant was granted at Westminter Magistrates' Court this afternoon meaning the 30 year old Serviceman can be held for an additional week.

A major operation in Summerset last week was a follow up to investigations over two major terror hauls in Co.Antrim parks earlier this year. 

Pipe Bombs, rockets and bomb making equipment were among the items discovered at Carnfunnock Country park and Cappanagh Forest.

Police are continuing searches in Larne today as part of an additional follow up operation.
