The Northern Ireland Fire Service (NIFRS) attended a car fire yesterday evening in the Knockalla Park area of Galliagh in Derry-Londonderry.
Fire crews from Northland Station in the city arrived to extinguish the fire at around 7.45pm, when "the car was well alight" at this stage, according to NIFRS Group Commander William Johnston.
Sinn Féin Councillor Caoimhe McKnight has slammed those responsible for setting fire to the car, especially so close to the residential homes:
"It's believed that this car was driven around the area for a period of time before it was set on fire less than 20 metres from local homes in Knockalla Park.
"The Fire Brigade had to be called out to extinguish the fire.
"I will be contacting the council to have this car removed as soon as possible."
Since then, the councillor has been speaking to the council and the car will be removed today.
