A council worker is lucky to be alive after being attacked by a vicious dog while collecting bins in Derry-Londonderry.

The man, who's in his 40s, was mauled by a Japanese Akita dog and had part his ear ripped off and his face slashed.

He was left needing 50 stitches to his face.

DUP councillor Graham Warke has told Q Radio we are lucky not to be dealing with a fatality.
