A young boy from Castlederg, hoping for life saving medical treatment in America, is a step closer to finding answers about his condition.

Billy Caldwell has traveled to Los Angeles for specialist treatment and testing, but was admitted to hospital on Tuesday.

MRI's suggest his epileptic-like condition could be hypo-Campell-Schlerosis - a progressive condition on the Brain.

Surgeons say the ten year old is a candidate for surgery, with high hopes of a successful outcome.

It's now thought surgeons could operate within days.

But, Billy's family say medical costs are spiraling however, with each night in Hospital costing over £10,000.

Locals have now rallied to help Billy, with bag-packs, runs and other challenges being organised in the coming days and weeks to help raise funds.

If you want to help Billy in reaching the £300,000 target the Keep Billy Alive campaign has now received a Just 4 Children Charity number.

People can make a donation via http://just4children.org/children-helped-2016/keep-billy-alive-2/.
