The success of bilingual bus signs in Belfast could see the scheme extended to Derry - Londonderry.

Translink services travelling along Metro corridor ten display destination information in both Irish and English.

A consultation on the project is to launch in March, with a view to introducing the signage in May.

Infrastructure Minister Chris Hazzard said:

"I believe that the provision of this information would be welcomed by many in the city and would improve access to public services by Irish speakers.

“The consultation will formally launch in March following the completion of an Equality Impact Assessment and engagement with key stakeholders. I would urge people to come forward with their views during the upcoming consultation period.”
