The man who died in a crash in Belfast City Centre yesterday has been named locally as Kevin Kearney.

The 27 year was travelling in a Silver Toyota Supra which struck a tree in York Street shortly before mid day.

He was later pronounced dead in hospital.

Mr.Kearney's father, also called Kevin, was shot dead by dissident Republicans in 2013.

His body was found in a lake in Alexandra Park in North Belfast - close to where the family lived.

At the time police described the 46 year old's killing as "Brutal" and "Cold Blooded".

Dissident republican groups claiming to be the IRA claimed responsibility.

Friends have paid tribute to Kevin Jnr online, describing him as a "Gentleman who would have helped anyone."
