Tom Holland is "incredibly excited" about signing up for Christopher Nolan's next movie, despite not knowing what it is about, and admitted it was the "phone call of a lifetime" when he was presented with the opportunity.

The 28-year-old actor is "incredibly excited" about starring in the unknown project and admitted it was a "phone call of a lifetime" when he was presented with the opportunity to take part in the forthcoming film.

Speaking on 'Good Morning America', he said: "All I can say is that I’m incredibly excited.

"And obviously honoured, but that’s all I can say because, to be honest, that’s all I know."

Asked if Nolan was the type of director Holland would say yes to "sight unseen", he replied: "100 per cent, without a shadow of a doubt."

Holland admitted receiving a call about Nolan's upcoming project reminded him of signing up to star as Peter Park/ Spider-Man, who he has portrayed in six movies.

He said: "When the opportunity came in, it was the phone call of a lifetime.

"It was reminiscent of getting the call about 'Spider-Man' 10 years ago.

"It’s an amazing thing for me. I’m super proud and I’m really, really excited."

Holland's comments come after it was revealed earlier this week that he was in talks for Nolan's new movie, in which he will appear alongside Matt Damon.

Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the movie won't be set in the present day, but it's not yet known whether the film will be based in the past or the future.

Nolan has penned the script for the project, and plot details have been kept under wraps so far.

The filmmaker will also direct the motion picture, which will be distributed by Universal and has a release date of July 17, 2026.

Nolan will also produce the film alongside his wife, Emma Thomas.

Earlier this month, Damon was said to be in talks to star in the as-yet untitled movie.

It would be the third time Nolan and Damon have collaborated together on the big screen.

As well as last year's 'Oppenheimer', the 54-year-old actor also appeared in 2014's 'Interstellar'.
