Cookstown footballer Aaron Hughes believes that Edinburgh and Newcastle are very similar places.

The former Newcastle United defender says it is great to play for clubs in cities where the sport is ‘their life.’

He’s been speaking after signing a new deal with Hearts.

Hughes’ existing deal was due to expire in just a few weeks' time.

The 37-year old joined the Tynecastle club in January as a free agent.

Manager Ian Cathro was looking to reshape the side.
