There have been calls for an end to the carnage on the south Down road that claimed the life of a young boy on Saturday night.

The eight-year-old from Lurgan - named locally as Callum Morrow - was killed in a two-car crash outside Banbridge on the main road to Castlewellan.

His father and brother and the female driver of the other car remain in hospital being treated for serious injuries.

A local farmer arrived at the scene within minutes.

He's told Q Radio it's the latest in a long line of tragedies and action has to be taken...

He says there were harrowing scenes when the boy's mother arrived in the area and found he had tragically passed away...

Just two weeks ago a motorcyclist died a short distance away on the same stretch of road.

Ulster Unionist councillor for the area, Glenn Barr, says he's already asked the authorities for help...

Upper Bann Assembly member Dolores Kelly knows the family...
