Work starts on a section of resurfacing the A6 this Friday.
The £60,000 carriageway resurfacing scheme will be carried out on the Hillhead Road in Toome, near The Elk.
The work is due to start at 8pm and will extend from the Blackpark Road to the Creagh (CRAY) roundabout on the Toome Bypass.
The work is expected to be completed by 6pm on Saturday.
Given the nature of the works and to help ensure the safety of users and those carrying out the works, a road closure for through traffic is required for the duration.
During the road closure, east bound traffic will be diverted via Blackpark Road, Creagh Road, Hillhead Road and back onto the A6 Toome Bypass at the Hillhead Road/Toome bypass junction.
West bound traffic will be diverted off the A6 bypass at its junction with Hillhead Road, and via Hillhead Road, Creagh Road, Aughrim Road, Magherafelt bypass and back out onto the A6 at the Castledawson Roundabout.
The above planned dates are subject to favourable weather conditions.
The Department has carefully programmed the work and traffic management arrangements in order to minimise any inconvenience to the public. However, motorists should be aware that some delays should be expected and that additional time should be allowed when planning any journeys.
