Police in Belfast say nothing has been found in the search for human body parts in the Ballygomartin area.

QRadio news understands three young boys were in the area on Saturday night and may have found something suspicious near a former factory.

PSNI officers sealed off the area on Tuesday evening after receiving reports of something being seen in the area.

Cordon's were in place until late this afternoon as detectives and dog units searched the area for a bag containing possible remains.

Detective Inspector Paul Rowland said: “The search has now concluded and nothing has been found.

While nothing untoward has been found on this occasion, I would like to encourage members of the public to continue reporting anything they feel is suspicious to police.”

Residents in the area say they were shocked the operation had gone on for so long.

Our reporter David Hunter spoke to one woman who overheard the three young men who claimed to have found remains on Saturday evening.
