Norbrook has praised emergency services for their quick response to a fire that broke out outside one of their facilities in Newry.
Two crews responded to a fire at Norbrook Laboratories at Armagh Road at around 1:20pm on Tuesday (17th October).
A spokesperson said, "Firefighters dealt with a fire involving an electrical generator. The pipe going to the generator had partially burnt away causing approximately 2000 litres to run off. Firefighters used mats to deal with this and environmental health were in attendance. The cause of the fire was accidental."
A spokesperson for Norbrook confirmed "a small fire" was caused by a "back-up generator which was in place as a result of Storm Ophelia."
She continued, "We would like to thank our emergency response team for the immediate and safe evacuation of all employees. We would also like to commend the response of the local Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service who quickly extinguished the fire. Electricity supply to some parts of the site was temporarily impacted but all services have now been restored."
