A 24-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances and possession of a firearm without a licence after police stopped and searched a vehicle.
Officers found a shotgun in the vehicle being driven along the Wellington Road area of Dungannon in the early hours of this morning.
Detective Sergeant McGale said: “Just before 1.30am, police stopped a vehicle being driven in the Wellington Road area of the town.
“Officers subsequently found, and recovered, a shotgun.
“A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm in suspicious circumstances and possession of a firearm without a licence. He remains in custody assisting with enquiries at this time.”
