Woman threatened during shop robbery on Shankill Road

Police are investigating a robbery at a shop on Shankill Road in Belfast on Sunday.

Detectives say a man entered a shop and approached a woman who worked there before producing a screwdriver and threatening the worker.

She was able to get away and hide in a staff room with another colleague.

Police say the robber then used the screwdriver to pry open the till before making off with a sum of money.

Officers are now looking for a man who is described as in his 50s and around 5’ 8” tall . He was wearing jeans, a navy or grey jacket with a white stripe, a dark flat cap, a blue and white face covering and blue surgical gloves.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact police by calling 101, quoting reference 1346 25/10/20. You can also submit information online using our non-emergency reporting form via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/. Information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous."
