Wallet stolen in armed robbery in Belfast

A man in his 20s has been mugged in South Belfast.

It's understood he was approached by another man with a knife on the Lisburn Road this morning near City Hospital.

He wasn't injured but his wallet was stolen.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "Detectives are appealing for information following the report of a robbery in the Lisburn Road area of south Belfast in the early hours of Monday, 4 September.

"Police received a report at around 3.20am, that a man, aged in his 20’s, was approached by a male believed to have been armed with a knife, and had his wallet stolen. The assailant then made off from the scene. There were no reports of any injuries.

"Detective Sergeant Keith Wilson has appealed to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has information which could assist police with their enquiries, to contact detectives at Musgrave on 101 quoting reference 100 04/09/17. Alternatively, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
