Fermanagh and Omagh District Council recently held an event to unveil Village Action Plans for Magheraveely, Teemore and Tempo.
The event, hosted by the Chairman of Fermanagh and Omagh District Council, Councillor Stephen McCann, acknowledged the dedication of the local village communities and recognised the tremendous work done in producing the plans.
Speaking at the event, Councillor McCann said: “I would like to pay tribute to everyone who participated and had an input into the production of the Village Action Plans which are unique to each of your areas.
"With their specific range of actions and initiatives, they will serve as blue prints to help boost the future business, economic and social wellbeing of the local community and assist in the sustainability and growth of these villages.”
The Village Action Plans were developed through a series of workshops and consultations with local stakeholders and community representatives which took place throughout summer and autumn of 2017.
Magheraveely, Teemore and Tempo, along with 12 other villages in the Fermanagh and Omagh District successfully applied for funding through the Village Renewal Scheme, funded by the Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme 2014-2020.
A Village Action Plan was required in all villages that were successfully assessed for funding and was the catalyst for the workshops.
The core aim of the Village Action Plans is to boost business and contribute to the economic and social wellbeing of those living in the respective communities.
A number of innovative actions and initiatives have been produced to ensure the continuing improvement and development of the rural areas, including the projects that funding was applied for.
Fermanagh and Omagh District Council has long championed the benefits of working in partnership with other agencies and local to improve the lives of the local population.
Copies of the Village Action Plans were presented to members of the community groups at the event and are available from the Council in PDF format.
