Two men charged in connection with armed robbery of cash-in-transit van

Two men in their forties have been charged in connection with the armed robbery of a cash in transit van in Belfast city centre. 

A cash box was stolen and a security officer was assaulted by a man armed with a crow bar during the incident, in the Great Victoria Street area yesterday. 

Four men and a woman were arrested a short time later and the cash box was recovered. 

Two suspects, aged 40 and 44, have been charged with robbery. 

They are due to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court this morning. 

Meanwhile, a 52 year old woman arrested has been charged with possession of a class A drug. 

She is due to appear before Belfast Magistrates' Court on 22nd February. 

Two other men aged 40 and 41 also arrested in connection with the armed robbery, remain in police custody. 

As is usual procedure all charged will be reviewed by the PPS.
