Three arrested after police cars rammed in East Belfast car chase

Three people have been arrested after a car rammed two police vehicles multiple times during a car chase in East Belfast.

Police say the collisions happened after the car failed to stop for police on the Saintfield Road yesterday afternoon.

A number of officers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

 


A PSNI statement said:

"Police arrested a man and two women following a police pursuit in east Belfast yesterday evening, Saturday 16 November."

"At around 4.40pm police received a report of a hit and run road traffic collision on Ravenhill Road.  It was reported that a silver coloured car collided with another car on the Ravenhill Road.  The female driver of the car did not sustain any serious injuries as a result."

"A short time later Police observed the offending vehicle on the Saintfield Road and signalled it to stop.  The vehicle failed to stop and made off from Police.  The vehicle was stopped by police in Dunraven Crescent after it rammed two police vehicles on a number of occasions.  A number of police officers sustained non-life threatening injuries as a result of the collisions."

"Two females, aged 26 and 32, and a 27 year old male were arrested on suspicion of a number of drugs offences after police discovered a large number of tablets in the car.  The 32 year old female was also arrested on suspicion of a number of motoring offences. "

"All three suspects remain in police custody at this time."
