The father of Jack Glenn says the tragedy has united Derry

The father of missing Jack Glenn says he's been overwhelmed by support from the public.

The 23 year old entered the River Foyle one week ago today. 

His family have been leading tireless searches along the river and surrounding banks ever since.

Jack's father, Colin described his son as a sporty and popular young man:

Foyle Search and Rescue has been joined by Mourne Search and Rescue and CSR to carry out detailed searches of the river using sonar equipment.

Colin says the search for his son has united the city:

The family say they’ve been overwhelmed by the support from local people and businesses.

Many have provided food and hot drinks for the search parties, while others have offered accommodation to people travelling to the area.

A group of divers from Drogheda will take part in a large-scale search planned for Saturday.

Thousands of people have already turned out to help search for Jack, Colin has appealed to people to stay safe when searching the riverbanks:

Search groups will continue to move off hourly from the Peace Bridge and Foyle Bridge.
