Belfast City Council is holding an emergency meeting later to discuss the crisis at Harland and Wolff shipyard.

Workers have maintained a demonstration at the gates of the iconic site since the start of the week when it fell under threat of closure.

SDLP and Green Party councillors have tabled a motion to convene an urgent forum between government departments and trade unions to secure the future of the shipyard.

Brian Heading and Anthony Flynn are hoping that by bringing together agencies the shipyard can be saved and skills can be preserved.

It comes just days before administrators are due to arrive on Monday.
