PSNI to step up farm patrols

Causeway Coast and Glens police commander is promising to beef up rural patrols to help stop farm thefts.

Superintendent John Magill made the pledge to DUP MP Gregory Campbell and party colleagues.

That's against the background of the recent abolition of the Rural Crime Unit.

Farm security is also a major issue in Mid Antrim, where large numbers of livestock and machinery have been stolen in recent years.
