PSNI step up patrols following trouble in Dungannon Park

Police have stepped up patrols in Moygashel after a confrontation between two groups of people in Dungannon Park.

Officers believe stones were thrown and a nearby car was damaged during the incident last Tuesday.

A PSNI spokesperson said:

Police received a report of an incident which occurred at the Dungannon Park area of Moygashel on Tuesday 17th August.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Lee Taggart said: “Shortly after 11:35pm, it was reported that a verbal altercation occurred between two groups in the area. It is believed that stones were thrown, with a white VW Golf parked at the Northland Way area damaged during the incident. The verbal altercation between the two groups continued upon arrival of police. There were no reports of any injuries following the incident.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and police would appeal to anyone with any information to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 2043 17/08/21. Police have stepped up patrols in the area with local officers continuing to work with local representatives and the community.”  

“The PSNI does not tolerate any type of vigilante activity and we would caution any individual or group against taking the law into their own hands. The PSNI is responsible for law enforcement in Northern Ireland - we are here to protect everyone and we are proud to serve them.

“We will continue to prioritise the issues that matter most to our communities and would appeal to the community to continue to support us in our efforts to keep the area safe for everyone.
