Strand Road police station in Derry/Londonderry was forced to close last night after it was confirmed three officers have tested positive for covid-19.

A spokesperson for the PSNI says in line with public health guidance, "appropriate steps were taken immediately to address the issue".

A deep clean of theohihu building and vehicles was carried out.

The station has now re-opened and a number of other officers, identified as close contacts, are self-isolating.

Foyle MLA Gary Middleton said he has spoken with the Chief Superintendent in the Derry City and Strabane district in relation to the issue.

Mr Middleton said the PSNI has assured him, no services were reduced as a result.
