A heavy police presence remains at the scene of a suspected shooting in Derry - Londonderry last night.

The PSNI received reports that several shots had been fired at a bungalow in Cornshell Fields just after 11pm on Monday 27th February.

It's understood that a man and his daughter were in the property at the time of the attack, however no-one was injured.

Speaking to the Derry News, the man said he has "no idea why it happened".

Detective Constable Emma Marshall said:

"We have carried out a number of follow-up enquiries to ascertain what happened last night and we are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the area or anyone else with any information.

"We are also keen to trace a white vehicle observed driving in the area around the time of the incident.

"We are appealing to anyone who may have any information regarding this incident to contact detectives at Strand Road Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1312 on 27/02/2017. Information can also be given anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
