Primark has confirmed it will start trading in Belfast city centre again from next month.

A new store will open on December 8th at Commonwealth house.

It's after the renovated store at the adjoining Bank Buildings was destroyed in a major fire in August.

In an email to staff the company also confirmed that work had started on repairs at the fire damaged building.

The Belfast Telegraph also report that the company plan to open another location at Fountain House next spring.

Fourteen other businesses have been unable to trade since the blaze this summer, leading to a dramatic slump in footfall in the area.

Other businesses, which are still opened to the public, have reported a drop in profits.

The UK Government, City Council and Primark have all paid into a pot of cash being used to support city centre traders.

The council also hope to reduce a cordon surrounding the Bank Buildings site by early December to help boost footfall in the Castle Street and Royal Avenue areas.
