Police investigate circumstances surrounding car on fire in North Down

Police are currently trying to establish the facts around a car fire on the A2 between Bangor and Belfast earlier.

There were fears it was a booby trap bomb attack on a police woman's car.

DUP leader Arlene Foster addressed reporters in Brussels as the news began to break

Now it appears the driver is a former PSNI officer and the fire may have been started by a major techincal fault on the vehicle.
