One death related to Covid-19 has been reported in the past 24 hours, according to the latest figures from the department of health.

In the same period, 1,129 positive cases have been recorded.

The latest figures from the department come after it emerged that Northern Ireland has the highest infection rate in the UK.

Meanwhile, new variants of coronavirus may no longer be named after the Greek alphabet, but star constellations instead.

So far, 11 mutations have been given names including Delta, Beta and Alpha.

But the World Health Organisation's Covid technical lead has told the Telegraph it's "possible" new variants could emerge which evade vaccines and they may run out of the letters of the Greek alphabet.
