North Belfast off-license targeted in attempted robbery

Police are investigating reports of an attempted robbery in North Belfast.

It happened at an off licence on the Cavehill Road at around half 12 this afternoon.

A man, believed to be armed with a knife, demanded money from staff before making off empty-handed in the direction of Henderson Avenue.

He's described as being aged in his 30s, approximately 5’9” tall, of slim build and was wearing a green coloured hooded top, denim jeans and carrying a drawstring bag.  

Detective Sergeant Keith Wilson is appealing for witnesses or anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Musgrave Police Station on 101, quoting reference 686 12/08/2018. 

Information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.
