Three muga pitches in Antrim may be be able to reopen soon following closures earlier this year.
Facilities at Kells & Connor, Broughshane and Ahoghill were forced to shutdown for health and safety reasons.
The council's planning to replace surfaces at two of the pitches, and carry out repairs in Broughshane.
Speaking to Q Radio, local MLA Paul Frew said it's understood they'll take legal action to recover the costs.
He said, "They have been a welcome facility in all three villages and usage was very healthy.
"The loss felt in the community was immense with teams having to move venues to continue running youth football.
"This deplorable situation has continued all throughout the summer months when the children have been off school," he added.
