The mother of murdered Irish woman Danielle McLaughlin has secured a meeting with the Taoiseach.
The 28-year-old was found raped and strangled on a beach in Goa, India on the 14th of March 2017.
She was carrying a British passport at the time, with dual nationality, and it was announced to her relatives the government in London would handle the case.
Her family wanted assistance from Dublin, having been born in Buncrana, County Donegal- but a meeting with the Irish Prime Minister was initially declined, with officials claiming Danielle "wasn't an Irish citizen."
Mother Andrea Brannigan wants a direct apology from Leo Varadkar after having previously felt "disowned" by the Irish government.
The Irish government's since expressed regret at the misunderstanding, which had been noted as being due to her possession of a UK passport.
Andrea told Q Radio a lack of governmental support has meant they've had to rely on goodwill to find the money for legal costs towards the murder trial.
