A store in Belfast has been robbed by a group of men with an electric saw.

The trio also had a hammer and a pick axe when they tried and failed to break into an ATM at a shop on the Ardorne Road at around 11pm last night.

They stole cash from the till before leaving the scene in a dark coloured saloon car.

The PSNI says two members of staff and customer have been left extremely shaken by what happened.

In a statement, the service said: "Detective Sergeant Stephen Gardiner would appeal to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity or vehicles in the area of the Ardoyne Road at the time of this incident to contact Detectives at Musgrave on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1643 29/03/18.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
