Masked men force entry into east Belfast home

Two elderly people have been left distressed after five masked men forced their way into a home in east Belfast on Wednesday.

Both victims who are in their eighties and who live on Grand Parade, were told to stay in the property's living room while the men searched the house.

It's not believed anything was taken during the incident which happened at around 7 o'clock.

Witnesses are being asked to come forward with information.

Detective Sergeant Natalie Moore said: “It was reported to police that at approximately 7.00 pm,  five masked men forced their way into the property. They told the two occupants, who are both in their 80s, to remain in the living room whilst the men searched the house before leaving.

“It is not believed anything was taken during the incident, which has been very distressing for the victims.

“Enquiries are continuing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1494 of 13/01/21.
