Man stabbed in the leg in South Belfast

A man's been taken to hospital after being stabbed in the leg in South Belfast.

Police say he was assaulted by two men on University Street just before half four this morning.

One of them then stabbed the victim in his thigh and stole his wallet.

The attackers are both believed to be in their late teens or early twenties.

A PSNI statement said:

"It was reported that two males approached the man and assaulted him at around 4.20am. It was during the assault that one of the attackers stabbed the man once in his thigh and took his wallet. "

"The man is currently in hospital receiving treatment for his injuries. The first male was described as being aged in his late teens or early 20's, was of light to average build, and was wearing dark coloured jeans, light coloured trainers and a light coloured coat over a light hooded top which had the hood up. "

The second male was also aged in his late teens or early 20's, and of light to average build, and wore dark tracksuit bottoms with stripes down the legs, white trainers and a dark coloured hooded jacket with the hood up. "
