An Irish woman is due in court in Australia charged with the murder of her fiance.

Cathrina Cahill was expected to appear before a judge at the weekend but her solicitor said she was 'too distressed.'

The 25 year old is accused of stabbing David Walshe to death outside his home near Sydney on Saturday February 18.

Local reports state that a “fracas” broke out at the couple’s home on Friday night.

Emergency services were reportedly met with “screaming and wailing”.

Back home in Enniscorthy, the community has been rallying round the victim's family as arrangements are now being made to repatriate his remains.

The woman from New Ross in County Wexford is expected to appear before Burwood local court later.
