House "extensively damaged" following deliberate fire in Omagh

A house has been "extensively damaged" following a fire that is believed to have been started deliberately in Omagh. 

Police and the Northern Ireland Fire Service were called to the incident in Meelmore Drive just before 3.30am this morning and the blaze was extinguished. 

The property was empty at the time and no-one was injured. 

However, the occupant of an adjoining house had to be evacuated. 

A PSNI spokesperson said, “At this stage, it is believed the fire was started deliberately and is being treated as arson.

“I am appealing to anyone with information, or who noticed any suspicious activity, to contact us on 101, quoting reference 133 of 17/08/21.”
