Police say there could have been tragic consequences after explosive devices were thrown at two houses in Armagh.

The attacks were launched in the Lisanally Gardens area of the city just before 7pm last night.

Damage was caused to the outside of the properties, but no injuries were reported.

Local councillor Sam Nicholson says the outcome could have been much worse.

The PSNI's Inspector Peters said “Shortly before 7:00pm it was reported that explosive type devices were thrown at two houses in this vicinity causing damage to the exterior of them.

“Thankfully nobody was injured as a result of the attacks but these actions could have had tragic consequences and officers are currently at the scene carrying out our investigations.

“I would appeal to anyone who either witnessed this incident or who has information that could assist to contact 101.  Information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop Crime.”
